Yuki Murayama is an illustrator and designer based in Kyoto, Japan. His style is defined by hand-drawn lines, painterly textures, and a distinctly tactile quality that pushes back against the flatness of digital art. Influenced by Riso prints and 1980s Japanese cartoons, his work uses grainy textures and limited palettes to create visuals that feel deeply human.
Yuki’s focus lies in editorial, publishing, and animation, with past clients including Honest History, Guardian, and CABI Foods. He’s motivated by intellectual curiosity and enjoys transforming complex ideas into compelling, non-cliché visuals. His creative process centers on concept clarity—rejecting visual shortcuts and searching for fresh angles. Whether he’s illustrating an article or storyboarding animation, his work is grounded in clear communication and a handmade aesthetic. Outside of illustration, Yuki explores noodle culture and maps out his favorite restaurants across Japan.
