Lorena Ruiz is an illustrator and graphic designer from Buenos Aires whose work blends vibrant color, decorative composition, and print-inspired textures. After studying Graphic Design at the University of Buenos Aires and later teaching illustration, she gradually shifted her practice from motion graphics and design toward illustration, drawn by a desire to create images from scratch rather than work with photography. Her visual language is influenced by Polish posters, Matisse’s cut-outs, risograph printing, lithography, and the ornamental qualities of Art Nouveau, resulting in dense, layered compositions filled with plants, patterns, and flat spatial arrangements.
Working across publishing, editorial, and personal projects, Lorena creates illustrations that celebrate nature, ecology, and human connection to the environment. Her process combines sketching, paper cut shapes, and digital refinement with textured brushes that emulate printmaking techniques. Through her practice, she aims to collaborate with brands and publishers that value strong visual identity, thoughtful storytelling, and themes rooted in care for the Earth and community.
