Janet Cheeseman is a London-based illustrator who has worked with clients including Oxford University Press, Hachette, CJ Fallon, and Grizzly Dare. With a background in working with children in primary schools, she developed a love for creating lively, fluid characters inspired by imaginative prompts and storytelling. Her work has a distinctive retro feel, often nodding to 1960s illustration, with expressive line, playful compositions, and rich textures. Janet’s creative process is character-led, beginning with sketchbook explorations of expression and costume before moving into carefully planned compositions and final digital artwork in Photoshop. Her illustrations balance humour and quirkiness with occasional darker, gothic undertones, always grounded by warmth and charm.
